Daniel Brooks — trail name: BeerCan — is a section hiker who loves board games. By 2025, he had hiked over 1,000 miles of the Appalachian Trail, including all of the Trail in New England.

In that same year, he hiked over 350 miles in all 14 AT states to capture the features and vistas along the Trail in over 160 photographs for the Blazing Thru the Appalachian Trail card game.

Blazing Thru is his first credited game design.
